2005 ford f150 lariat. The transmission control button is not working. It's out of overdrive and will not go back. Button is not stuck and shifts fine I'm thinking it's just a bad switch. Can I replace just the control button and could it be something else?

Josh,

Has the computer system been scanned to see if there are any transmission fault codes setting?

No, was thinking of getting a scanner
Transmission Mechanic: Ron, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

You may just have a bad switch which can be replaced but I think before you replace anything you should scan the system to see if there are any transmission fault codes coming up. In most cases if the problem is with the transmission there will be some fault codes. I have also enclosed the switch replacement steps if need in the link below. If you come up with a fault code and or codes let me knw them and we can work from there if need be.
