Have a 2001 Toyota Avalon...received code P0773
Need instructions, tips and tricks of the trade on how to remove the value body.
Trans in car, have removed pan and filter. Need to know bolt pattern of valve body and what I can do to make sure nothing drops out when taking the body down. OR should I just put it back with clean fluid and see if this corrects the problem before going through the valve body removal process. Please help

You sent info on the XL model, I have a 2001 XLS model...are the transmissions the same?
Transmission Mechanic: Gunvir Singh,
 replied 10 months ago

The code is for fault with shift solenoid valve SL which is part of the valve body assemby. Detent spring will need to be removed with caustion( step 8 in the procedure).

I also found a TSB with the same vehicle regarding DTC P0773. Check if your VIN# ***** under the tsb. If yes, perform tsb before valve body replacement.
