Customer Question
I have a 2004R...

I have a 2004R with a late 1-2 upshift no matter where the cable is adjusted. I replaced the governor with one having heavier springs ,and also put in a larger that uses lip seals but now it actually is later on 1-2 and 3-2 now has a slip/flare.line pressure maxes @150***@******.*** thoughts???thanks

Mechanic's Assistant: Besides this, what condition is the car in?

Generally good shape.

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your transmissions?

This does not check out to be the original unit for the car.Actual application is 87 El Camino w/5.0 liter.Model#on case tag is BY

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?

Transmissionhas been overhauled, but this problem has been consistent, originally it came in with a steady slip in third gear.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Yes. shouldn't stronger governor springs mqake the 1-2 shift earlier?

Hello I'm Wolfgang. Stronger governor springs will raise the shift points. But still you have a slip. If I remember correctly that the clutch pack pistons have check valves. Were the check balls still there? Did you check the valve body valves for any binding? When the assy was together what was the end play measurement? Thanks
