Evidently trans shift selector won't come out of park. Don't

Evidently trans shift selector won't come out of park. Don't have vehicle here. Is that a shift interlock solenoid off the shifter? If so is it a dealer only part?

Engine starts up and runs fine.

Hello and thank you for using Just Answer. My name is James.

The shift interlock solenoid is a dealer only item. If the vehicle will not come out of park, the solenoid is suspect. First, make sure the brake lights are working. The interlock requires brake lamp signal input before it will release.
