Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

There are several things that will cause the transmission to go into limp in and it will require some testing to determine what is going on. The trans goes into limp in when the transmission control module sees a failure that will prevent proper operation and sets fault codes. Possible causes range from solenoids, speed sensors, wiring, the trans controller itself, internal trans issues; there are dozens of possible causes.

The first thing that needs to be done is use a scan tool or code reader to see what fault codes are setting and then testing can be done from there.
