Was there any metal or clutch material in the pan?

Ask Your Own Transmissions Question
Transmission Mechanic: Dan, ASE Certified Technician replied 1 year ago

p1405 is an EGR valve code and is not related to the trans slipping.

P0766, Replaced Automatic Transmission

Complaint

The customer states the check engine light is on.

Cause

Connected a scan tool and found code P0766 - Shift Solenoid "D" Performance/Stuck Off. Commanded the automatic transmission shift solenoids on and off with the scan tool, but did not hear an audible click when the shift solenoids actuated. Removed and inspected the automatic transmission fluid level indicator. The inspection revealed the automatic transmission fluid was burned. At idle, attached a pressure gauge to the automatic transmission fluid test port and shifted the transmission into neutral. Monitored the automatic transmission fluid line pressure and observed the line pressure was not within the specified range of 50-65 PSI. Removed and inspected the automatic transmission pan. Found excessive metal shavings and clutch material within the automatic transmission pan, which indicated the automatic transmission was internally faulty.

Correction

Replaced the automatic transmission, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.

You did not say anything new . The code do not indicate bad transmission.- PO766 and the code P1405 may relate also to pressure in TRani . Please tell me something i don't know . know what you say and i mention it when start. NO trani Replacement >

Could be a bad wiring harness or module problem. I can send you the steps to diagnose these codes from the factory service manual. I have seen issues with the trans wiring harness before.

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose), my normal schedule online is around lunch and after dinner past midnight.

Lets see if I can help you.

I see the code you need diagnosed, 0766.

Though I need better a symptom description. You said transmision slip 2nd and no 5th gear and transmission slip from 1st to 3rd to 4th No5th or 2nd gear.

You have a 4F27E transaxle. That is a 4 speed. There is no 5th gear.
