2006 Pontiac G6 (semi-automatic) revs in drive as if it's in

Customer Question

2006 Pontiac G6 (semi-automatic) revs in drive as if it's in neutral. Drives normally if you put it in manual mode. One mechanic said it sounds like an internal cylanoid and another says that I need a whole new transmission.

Your transmission has most likely broken the forward drum band. This is pretty common on the G6. If you have a scan tool you can do some testing to see if it is a speed sensor/solenoid problem, but you will probably need a new transmission.
