Customer Question

I own a 2006 Ford Explorer ; 4.6L V8 6-speed 4x4. My transmission is doing the well known issue for this model "lunging" but not too often and there is some shifting issues around 40-50mph. Is it true I can have this transmission re-programmed to match the 2007+ models to alleviate possible failure or am I doomed from the start?

Hi there. The programming update can make a good transmission perform better. However, Ford warns such update is not a repair or preventative maintenance procedure for any current or future mechanical issue. You can call your local dealer with your VIN and production date and have them look-up all possible updates for your vehicle. Please let me know if you have any other questions.Best Regards.
