I've just installed re-built 46re trans into my 1996 dodge

Customer Question

I've just installed re-built 46re trans into my 1996 dodge ram pickup and also replaced the t v cable. Now I'm noticing a hard shift out of second and third gear. What can I do to make it shift right?

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

The issue may be internal in the replacement trans or it could be throttle valve cable adjustment. You mentioned a hard shift out of second and third, which would mean the 2-3 and 3-4 upshifts. The 3-4 upshift wouldn't be affected by the throttle valve cable.

Where did the replacement trans come from?
Can you explain how the cable was adjusted?
