Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

You're seeing this because it doesn't know that the shifter is in park. There is a position sensor inside the shifter which consists of a handful of switches that open and close in combinations for each gear position. Assuming the shift linkage is correctly adjusted and it's actually going into park, this is a failure of the position switch in the shifter. The shifter assembly will need to be replaced to repair this concern.
