Hello. Welcome to Just Answer. Please allow me to assist you. Please allwo me to ask a quick question: When the truck cannot be shifted, if you stop and shut the vehicle off, does it shift OK then?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Usually stopped with engine running

Tried to turn engine off, restart engine and still can not shift. Doesn't happen all the time. Almost like it locks up

Thank you. I need to know if, after it locks up, and you shut the motor off, and leave it off, will it shift OK then?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Not when I tried.

Did this start right after you changed the clutch?

You have one of the following possibilities:

1) clutch disc is wrong

2) clutch disc is in backwards

3) Pressure plate spring is weak or broken.

4) Clutch disc is hanging up on the input shaft

5) throwout bearing is hanging up on the input shaft collar.

Most often, when this happens, the clutch disc is either wrong or it is in backwards. A broken (or bent) pressure plate spring failure is possible, but not very common, unless it is the original one, then it would be very likely.
