Hello and welcome to Justanswer!

If the trans is flaring into a single gear it usually indicates clutch leakage or wear. It's possible that you could have have a solenoid issue or possibly degraded/incorrect fluid, but a fluid issue would usually cause an issue with all shifts.

Has the fluid level and condition been checked?

Has the problem gotten worse over time or did it start all at once?

Has anything been done to try to repair it?

Fluid is good level, car has 114k miles..Are you a Subaru approved tech?

The problem appears to have gotten worse over time, was wondering if you worked for Subaru and have had same issues with Foresters? I have Not attempted to repair yet but hoping that you can assist me, in the repair process. Please what do we do next?
