93 Grand 4.0 auto. Shifting from 2W to 4H sounds like right front is not engaging. been working fine, possible problem ?

Hello and welcome to Justanswer!

The only thing that engages when shifting into four wheel drive is the transfer case, which will then rive the front driveshaft. If you're hearing an abnormal noise in the right front in four wheel drive and the front wheels don't pull then most likely you have a broken CV joint. They will often fail after running dry after the boot leaks.
