2001 Ford F-350 4wd doesn't switch automatically when switch

2001 Ford F-350 4wd doesn't switch automatically when switch activated. Kee in mind we haven't turned in 4 Wd since we've owned it.

Hello, when you switch it into 4wd do the 4wheel drive light come on and the front wheels just don't engage?

The auto hubs don't work because all of the vacuum seals are wore out. The hubs rely on vacuum to engage and disengage the auto hubs. Overtime of not being used the seals become weak and cracked. You will need to resell the front hub assemblies to correct your concern.
