It sounds like your transmission has faulty forward clutch band. These years had problems with the bands. It is somthing most transmissions shops should be familure with because of its know issues. The case woukd have to be split and the band replaced. You could possibly find a shop willing to only fix the actuall problem or u might have to go full rebuild or replace.
