Hi there, thanks for your question.
If all your clutch fluid was gone it's safe to say you had a leak. It's common for bot the slave and master cylinder to leak at high mileage on these cars. The only other possible leak location would be one of the lines or the resevoir itself.
That being said since you already replaced them both you need to bleed the system to get the air out.
