customer car will not go into overdrive. Actuating the switch turns on the light. fluid level is good. tons of miles 89 740 non turbo 350k+

My name is ***** ***** I am a professional here at Just Answer. I noticed that your question was not getting a response and thought I would see if you still need help with this.I apologize for the delay and I hope I can still assist you with this here.
This can be a fault with the over drive/torque converter lock up solenoid at fault needing replaced causing this issue or a fault with the torque converter itself as this can sometimes cause this as well.
These will need to be tested to locate which is the cause here and repaired from there to correct the fault.
