Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!
The trans is going into limp in. When the trans controller sees an issue that can cause damage or it thinks it doesn't have complete control it will shut off the relay that powers the solenoid pack and locks you in second gear.
There are many causes for limp in and the first step in diagnosing the problem will be seeing what fault codes are setting in the TCM.
Possible causes include the TCM itself, internal trans issues, solenoids and pressure switches, input and output speed sensors, the range sensor, trans relay, and wiring between any of the components.
The most common cause of limp in on this trans is the solenoid pack or a sticking solenoid switch valve in the valve body.
