Customer Question

My sister has a 2006 Kia Optima (automatic). She is having problems with the transmission. The Kia will only go into reverse. Its very hard to get it into reverse and it makes a loud clunk when it goes on. The car will not go into drive. Any suggestions?

Hi, I'm Brandon - Kiat tech. When was the last time you have check and replace the transmission fluid? Burnt fluid can cause the transmission to fail.
It looks to me the transmission torque converter is bad. The only economic way to fix it is to replace the whole transmission. The cost will be around $1600 including the labor and the rebuilt transmission.
Sorry, for the news but it is the fact.
