2011 Sienna - left sliding door cable broke

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Sienna yourself? What have you tried so far?

Planning to - just watched some videos on how to do it.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I'm concerned that simply replacing the cable won't address the source of the problem. i.e. why did the cable break? I recall the door didn't operate smoothly (sounded like the track was corroded or the wheels weren't rolling smoothely) prior to (for 6 months or so) the cable braking. what else should I check/consider replacing when i replace the cable?

Mechanic's Assistant: Besides this, what condition is the car in?

Good - 130k miles, but otherwise mechanically sound and well maintained

to replace the cable is a difficult job taking 3-4 hours to do so and with replacing the cable there is a drum inside that also needs replacing. If the door has been sliding rough I would check the bearing rollers and track they ride on first. All said and done you can cut the cables and operate it manually. So let me know how you wish to proceed and what info I can supply for you and I will do so.
