Hello. I have a 2013 Camry keyless with factory alarm system. The darned alarm is always triple chirping and or just alarm sounds randomly whenever it feels like it. We think it become possessed as we have done everything by the book to reset it.

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fob's battery?

Just replaced both again last week. waste of $

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Camry yourself? What have you tried so far?

Whatever the book says. maybe there's a secret we don't yet know about

OK - so the data base i use always asks which engine size. Sometimes, it makes a difference electrically speaking.

Which engine do you have in the car?

so I'm going to ask you a few questions, that may not necessarily make sense to you, but it helps me narrow down the issue

Any accidents, or repairs to the vehicle, prior to the random alarm issues?

none

There is a glass breakage sensor system with adjustability... we may return to that, but i have some other ideas first.

Any trouble with the hood closing properly, or not opening easily?

We already checked all the basics. Have owned 8 different Toyota's including 3 Camrys. Just wondered if there was an obvious problem that we might be overlooking.
Toyota Mechanic: Canuck Tech, Auto Mechanic replied 4 months ago

I was going through the inputs that make the alarm system happy... so , door switches, hood switch, and... a good possibility - the trunk switch...

I've seen hood switches cause this trouble, and trunk switches

To answer your immediate question, no nothing obvious... sorry

Worthy of your consideration - the dealer can access all the inputs and outputs with the scan tool, and possibly what caused the last alarm cycle. I know many people are skeptical of the dealers, and in some cases, the crappy reputation is deserved, but, I don't know that body software for this car is readily available in the aftermarket.

I can provide details to adjust the glass breakage sensor if you wish, but honestly, if the car has worked fine for years, and then this alarm issue pops up, it probably isn't the glass breakage sensor adjustment

There are also no bulletins, or technician comments regarding random alarm activation

If I was faced with the same issue in the shop, I would need to get into the body control modules, and look at switch states.
