Customer Question
My daytime running lights...

My daytime running lights and blower stay on after turning the ignition off and removing the key

Mechanic's Assistant: Is the car in "Park" or "Neutral?" Do you know if your car has a "wheel lock" feature?

Park

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Toyota?

2006 Toyota 4runner limited. also the remote car lock on the key doesn't work.

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your 4Runner yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes, a couple weeks ago battery kept dying so replaced battery and found out alternator was bad. replaced alternator and now the fan blower/lights wont go off tried removing pigtail from alternator and lights/blower still stayed on

Any other possibilities? Getting ready to pick up a new one

Please do not forget to click a positive rating
that is the only likely one. aside from that it wouldn't be anything common or predictable. Please do not forget to click a positive rating

Well that didn’t work
Toyota Mechanic: Steve, Automotive Expert replied 4 months ago

okay then the next step would be to have the vehicle scanned as there isn't anything else common. Please do not forget to click a positive rating

No other ideas or possibilities? Any diagnostic tests?
Toyota Mechanic: Steve, Automotive Expert replied 4 months ago

no it is probably a module issue, which needs to be diagnosed with a scanner, it can't be done manually unless you want to tear the car apart unhooking everything one by one. Please do not forget to click a positive rating
