My 2005 highlander wont...

My 2005 highlander wont start. Replaced battery. Turn the key and all dash lights come on and i can hear the fuel pump. Nothing happens after. Could this be a security lockout problem? Is there a way to reset it?

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fuses? The dashboard bulbs?

Yes, all fuses. Bulbs are good

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Highlander yourself? What have you tried so far?

Checked fuses. The engine just seems like its not getting a signal to fire up.

It is already off at that point. It only blinks and goes off after I unlock car.

if the security light goes out when you turn the key to start, its not anti theft that is the problem

if it was related, the security light would be flashing fast when trying to start it

disconnect the battery. both terminals. hold them together for 30 seconds, then reconnect them

Hi, different expert here. My name is***** sounds like your starter has failed. You should check the 7.5 amp starter fuse in the fuse box under the hood. If the fuse is good you will need to test the voltage at the small black/white wire to the starter solenoid. If you have battery voltage at the solenoid wire when the key is turned to the start position you will need to replace the starter motor.
