Couldn't start my 2006 Toyota Highlander hybrid. Lights

Customer Question
Couldn't start my 2006...

Couldn't start my 2006 Toyota Highlander hybrid. Lights won't go off. Also got message to check malfunction indicator light.

Mechanic's Assistant: Do you have the trouble code? Do you have a code reader or scan tool?

No. I see a reference to a discharged auxiliary battery located under the hood. How do I check if I have low voltage?

Mechanic's Assistant: Not a problem. You can work with the Toyota Mechanic to figure that out. The more information we have the better, but not to worry - the Toyota Mechanic will know how to find that out. Are you fixing your Highlander Hybrid yourself? What have you tried so far?

The regular lights won't go off either. If they stay on all night, I'll definitely have a dead battery.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

No, what does this cost to get his read on what's happening?

Mechanic's Assistant: You just pay a $5 deposit now and the rest only when you get a reply from the Toyota Mechanic. All of this is 100% satisfaction guaranteed, so you can get a refund if you're not happy for any reason.

Never mind.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer! I apologize for the extended wait time you experienced, I've only just come online now and would like to assist you with your question.

You opted out the person helping you, preventing him from replying to you, hence the lack of response from him.

It does sound like you have a discharged 12v battery. You can either try jump starting it (not always reliable), you could remove the battery and have it load tested, you could test it's voltage with a digital voltmeter, or you could swap in a known good battery. Most big chain parts stores such as Autozone and even Wal-Mart will load test batteries for free.

My goal is to give you the best experience possible! I hope I have earned a 5 star rating! Please remember to rate my service by selecting the 5 stars at the top of the screen before you leave today. If you need more assistance, please use the reply box and let me know.
