Recently purchased a 2016 4WD Tacoma sport. Suspension is…

Customer Question
Recently purchased a 2016...

Recently purchased a 2016 4WD Tacoma sport. Suspension is very stiff and driving off road is miserable. I'm trying to figure out whether its the suspension or the serious mud tires that are on it (and came w/the truck). I've had nothing but Toyota trucks, most recently a 2005 Tundra, for many years and have never had this problem. Is it the suspension or the tires?

Mechanic's Assistant: How has the ride been lately? Have you noticed any fluid under the car?

Nope. The ride hasn't changed, even w/a heavy load in the bed. I've never owned the sport model before and am wondering whether that's the difference, although I've always had off road 4WD models.

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Tacoma yourself? What have you tried so far?

Haven't tried anything. I bought it in July. It's actually more comfortable on the highway but I live on a bad dirt road and every bump or dip is jarring. It's certified.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

It's a manual, if that makes a difference. And I had to get the clutch adjusted shortly after buying it but other than that, nope.

I would like to know if its the suspension or the tires. Does the Tacoma Sport have a stiffer suspension than the SR5 off road?

Hi my. Name is***** was heavy duty springs for towing offered on this model but should not make it uncomfortable to drive on rough roads. I would suspect tires or have suspension checked to see if was altered with aftermarket suspension parts.
