Customer Question
2010 Tacoma dual cab...

2010 Tacoma dual cab 6v automatic. The cruse control has completely stopped working. Everything else is working! The on/off switch was pulled out by approximately 1/4 inch.

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fuse? What size is your engine?

Have not checked the fuse yet! Under hood or dash

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Tacoma yourself? What have you tried so far?

I will be fixing it myself. Just noticed it last night. The on/off stick or catches as you push on it! Can the control arm be bad

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I'm still looking for engine size! Sorry I'm mechanically inclined! I just never had a problem with this truck

Do you by chance have a scan tool so we can see what switch signals are being sent and received?

Would you think it is the clock spring or the control arm
Toyota Mechanic: Chris (aka-Moose), Auto Technician replied 10 months ago

The switches or the clock spring are you most likely issues for this concern. We need to diagnose them to see what signals the ECM is getting and not getting. They work by sending different levels of resistance to the ECM and the ECM can then tell which button or switch is used. Do you have access to a volt/ohm meter or diagnostic tool?

Now that I have posted a partial or complete answer, you will see you can rate me. The deposit you have already paid is not transferred to me until you rate me. I would like to receive nothing less than 5 star excellent ratings. So if we are not there yet, please reply and let me help more. If you're not pleased, let me know because rating bad does not result in a refund, there are better options. Rating now will not close this post nor prevent replying. Thanks Chris
