Customer Question

I can't find the coolant temp sensor on my 2002 toyota camry. I've been looking on the internet but my engine looks different than all the videos. I bought a new one from the auto parts store and the connection is looks different than the one I think is on my car.

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the connectors on the sensor itself? It's important that they not be loose or corroded.

Yes. but I.m not sure if it is the right thing.

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Camry yourself? What have you tried so far?

I looked at where I think the coolant switch is but my connection is different. So now I;m not sure it is the right one

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I just want to make sure I have the right one

the sensor they sold me for my car only has 2 slots and the one on the car has three. So could my car have a different connection than other 2002 toyotas?
Toyota Mechanic: George H., ASE Certified Technician replied 9 months ago

Your car should have the same as what you were sold unless they sold you the wrong part. Can you provide the brand and part number of what you have and a picture of the connector?

Do you see a brown and green/yellow wire?

Toyota Mechanic: George H., ASE Certified Technician replied 9 months ago

Your sensor has the three pins, the part they sold you is wrong.

It should look like this one (click here)

Let me know if you have further questions, if nothing further please complete the rating

Thank you
