Toyota Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 9 months ago

Is it currently locked up right now so we can try something?

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
it is
Toyota Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 9 months ago

Can you try disconnecting the vacuum brake booster hose then reconnect and see if the brakes loosened up.

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
No they didn't loosen at all
Toyota Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 9 months ago

Loosen the master and slip a piece of paper behind it from the bottom side. Snug it back up and hard stroke the master with the engine running. (Is the master cylinder filling the booster?)

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Toyota Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 9 months ago

Let me know if you have any signs of leaking brake fluid into the brake booster

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
There doesn't seem to be any leakage, also made sure that wasn't the case when I replaced the master cylinder.
Toyota Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 9 months ago

interesting, ive seen 3 with the same problem and had another tech do what you did but had a bad booster. I'm actually surprised, would you like to have another tech?

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
I'm just as confused. If you think someone else can help that would be great.
Toyota Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 9 months ago

Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

Did these brakes do this before you changed those parts?

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
that was the reason all that work was done.
Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

thanx for that info, I believe I may know the problem as you stated it was ok for a while after you bled the brakes . Is this correct/

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

It is only the front brakes that lock up right?

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
only the front, and occasionally only one side of the front
Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

Ok thanx, the next time this happens locked brakes, crack the line at that caliper and tell me if it releases.

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
They do release but shortly afterwards lock up again
Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

ok this is defiantly a hydraulic issue . Have you done any rear brake work at all recently?

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
Just what I had mentioned the brake hoses, rotors and pads
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
But no work prior to the issue
Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

ok thanx. does your vehicle have ABS brakes?

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
it does, AWD all 4 are disk
Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

ok does the brakes work for a while after bleeding and not driving but applying the pedal a few times they lock up again?

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

I suspect it is the proportioning valve that is acting up , they usually stick this on the fire wall some were. These tend to shift and stick over time.

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
I will take a look at it and get back to you
Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

I will check back with you tomorrow as it is late here.

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
Sounds good thank you
Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

so have you tried the proportioning vale yet?

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
I'm still looking into the proportioning valve although it doesnt seem to have one. Also I jacked up the truck and only the front drivers side is sticking and when I crack the line there it releases and I can drive around the block before it locks back up
Toyota Mechanic: Peter Bagley, Auto Service Technician replied 9 months ago

What I recomend is to fallow the line from that caliper back all the way and see the first thing it attaches to . let me know.
