Customer Question
Yeah the high beams...

Yeah the high beams on my 1998 corolla dosen't work

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the bulbs and fuses?

Yep cheked all the fuses and everything except the relays but they work when you flash them

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Corolla yourself? What have you tried so far?

Cheking the fuses is about all i've done because i dont have a multimeter

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

The dimer light dosen't work either (the one behind the cluster)

Hello. Different expert here. This is becoming a somewhat common problem on the 1998 Corollas as of late. Most likely, you have a faulty Daytime Running Light Control Module. Without the ability to test things, I cannot say exactly for sure, but, based on the issue of no Hi beams AND the high beam light does not come on (power for the Hi Beam light comes form the Daytime Running Light Control Module). Without question, before going out and buying one, electrical testing is needed to ascertain that the Module is indeed the problem. However, based on experience, I would be inclined to think the module is faulty. If you have any questions, please feel free to reply. Thanks

Toyota Mechanic: Toyota Service, Toyota Expert replied 11 months ago

The cluster light?

Yeah the light behind the rpm and speed gauges... its not working even tho i turned the dimmer both directions many times
Toyota Mechanic: Toyota Service, Toyota Expert replied 11 months ago

Yes. You remove the phillips screws that are above the cluster under the lip of the instrument panel. Remove the plastic trim. Then remove the 4 ten mm bolts that holds the cluster to the inner panel structure.
