Have Toyota Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose).
Will it at least crank?
What does the theft light do with the key in the run position?
Have you tried to start it in neutral?
Do you own a test light or volt meter?
Do you know someone with the tools so you can borrow them? We are out of tests to do at this point.
Sure just respond here when ready.
Hi Im David, can you pull the starter relay and check for 12vdc on position 3 of the relay plug please
ok under the hood.
you need a volt meter
a test light?
put it in the number 5 slot of the relay slot
it is exactly what i sent.
pull it out it should look like the one attachment i sent. put the test light in position 5
ok, now, turn the key on and check for power in slot 1
have someone hold the key in the start position and recheck it
i already sent it
ok. not good
make a jumper wire. put one end in 3 and the other end in 5
a piece of wire stripped on both ends
ok well its late here Ill be back on in the morning. when you jumper 3 to 5, the starter should crank. if not then the starter is bad. let me know
did you jump 3 to 5?
its not supposed to start when you do that
thats just checking the starter and wire to the solenoid
check the 7.5 amp starter fuse on the right side under dash fuse panel
look at both
if the piece of metal inside is broken
you need to disconnect the neutral safety switch and check for power on position 4, black/yellow wire while someone hold the key to start postion.
on the transmission
you need to remove the air cleaner box, battery and air tube.
well thats the next step. if that tests good, then the ecm is the culprit

ill be back on in about 45 minutes.
you can but a preprogrammed one for your car form ebay for around 200.00
and thats the neutral safety switch, where I wanted you to access,
very good. glad its taken care of
if you remove the things i told you too, it is easy to access
