Customer Question
Hello, I have 2010 Toyota...
Hello, I have 2010 Toyota Corolla with approx. 150,000 miles. We have been having a problem with our AC. It started off as gradual and now becoming more frequent. Basically what happens is that While driving sometimes the AC begins to slowly stop blowing. What I mean is its blowing good cold AC then it weakens and weakens until it stops blowing all together. This process is a matter of minutes. Then if we shut the car off, give it like 10 minutes, turn the car on again, the ac starts acting normal. Then we wont have the problem for another couple weeks. Any Ideas?

Hi Im David, thanks for visiting the site, when it quits blowing is there still evidence of cold air at the vents, but just not blowing out?

Customer reply replied 11 months ago
I think when it first stops there might be some cold air still trapped, but when it stops nothing is coming out.
Toyota Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 11 months ago

ok, if you turn the ac off when this happens does the fan still blow out air?

Ask Your Own Toyota Question
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
No fan does not blow when this happens. Its blowing at first and then weakens until it stops blowing all together. Then if we shut the car off for a bit and start it back up...it works.
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
Wife says that the fan sounds like its getting louder as it starts to shut off.
Toyota Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 11 months ago

ok, the blower motor seems to be overheating and should be replaced. it will start working again when it cools off.

Would there be specific reason for it overheating?
Toyota Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 11 months ago

its a rotary motor. its brushes wear out. its been working hard for 7-8 years. its not uncommon.
