The shifter from the transfer case of my 91 pickup has

the shifter from the transfer case of my 91 pickup has detached and I can't disengage the 4wd
JA: Does the vehicle have a fuse that enables or disables the shifter?
Customer: I don't think so - the shifter itself has come out of the case
JA: What is the model of your '91 Toyota?
Customer: extended cab - 6 cyl 3 l
JA: Are you fixing your Cab yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: this just happened, i've been trying to put the shifter back in

Hello, welcome.

The shifter may be broken off or just came out of the shift shafts in the t case.

What needs to be done is the console should be removed(if it has one), then the rubber boot from the shifter, then remove the 4 12 mm bolts that hold the shift tower on( they may be off already)pull the shifter out and inspect it, it may have just come out because the bolts vibrated out and just needs to be put back in and bolted down. Let me know what you found and we'll go from there.
