ive been having a cranking no start condition for a couple weeks now
JA: Will the headlights turn on? Is the battery fully charged?
Customer: yes I've replaced the fuel pump and the cam pos. sen.
JA: What is the model/year of your Toyota?
Customer: 2001 toyota mr2 spyder
JA: Are you fixing your MR2 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: well just the fuel pump and the pos sen.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I have voltage of 5 and 11 volts to the single plug distributors

You have voltage to the coil and computer reference of 5 volts but missing the trigger to the coil

Is this a single coil to plug type or distributor with conductive wires to the spark plugs

have you try a crank sensor this is the sensor that provides the trigger signal to the computer and from the computer to the coil

I put some starting fluid in the engine but it just sputters alittle and tries to start

ok if the engine attempts to start then this means you have spark the crank sensor is working fine. I don't want you to replace a part if is still good. lest check for spark at one of the spark plugs to make sure we are in the right direction. Do you know how to do this?
