Customer: VSC code 3/1 will not rest
JA: Are you fixing your Sequoia yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: forgot to lock steering wheel so I checked steering wheel clock sensor - pass continunity test, also checked vacuum line and connector on front axel which was close to the rack center bolt
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

did you perform the zero point calibration on it, after installing it?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No - this is the 2nd rack in 2 years (autozone rack) and the first time I di dnot have to do that, is there a procedure?
Expert:  Tim Mohr replied 1 month ago.

yes, anytime the steering system is disturbed, the zero point calibration must be done, or the vsc lights will not go out, to do this, make sure the steering wheel it pointing straight forward, then at the OBDII connector , jumper the Pins 12 and 4, turn the key on, the VSC lights will flash and leave the key on until the pattern of the flash changes, then turn the key off, remove the jumper and start the car, the lights should be off now,Tim

thats the correct port, so the lights dont flash when you jumper them?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
correct, it looks just like the key ON position as if no jumper is installed

I can jump TC & TG and the VSC blink code is 31, I can clear code by jumping TC & CG then press brake 8 times within 5 seconds and VSC clears until I start to drive. I removed the steering wheel and check the clock sensor wiring 4 ping and 2 pin air bag plugs are all good with voltmeter on continunity check. Could I have the steering angle sensor out of phase? I did not lock the steering wheel when I replaced rack, then spun it several times but it never would stop.
