I have a "Check Hybrid System" Error and my car won't start,

Customer Question

I have a "Check Hybrid System" Error and my car won't start
JA: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded?
Customer: I'm not sure how to check that
JA: What is the model/year of your Toyota?
Customer: 2010 prius
JA: Are you fixing your Prius yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I've only tried turning it off and on. The car stalled out and I had to pull into a parking lot
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: That's all

Thanks for posting

There is a 12 volt battery located in the trunk, it's called the auxiliary battery, when these go below a certain voltage the hybrid computers stop communicating, I would highly recommend that you have this battery tested using a computerized tester, the hybrid 12 volt batteries are not the same as regular car 12 volt batteries and if it's the original battery it will most likely need replacing,.

Thank you. So there's nothing I can do now to get my car running? I've pulled over into a parking lot.

Do you have any roadside assistance service or possibly a tow truck can try to jump start it for you.
