Hello, thanks for posting

The check engine light usually causes other light like trac control or skid control to turn on as well, these systems are disabled as long as the CEL is on, the first thing I would need to know is what diagnostic codes are stored in the engine control computer, to just find out what codes there are you can visit an auto parts store like Autozone, Advance Auto or O Reilly, they can get the codes for you at no charge (excpt in CA) they may give you the code numbers and an explanation as to what they think should be done or what part of the system is causing the problem, most of the time the CEL turns on because of an emission control system fault, this may be something minor like a loose or missing gas cap, a vacuum hose off under the hood or something that may require additional diagnosing, I can help with that or make a recommendation based on past experience depending on the codes that were retrieved.
