Customer Question

Trying to change 120amp alternator fuse. Apparently I need to remove the fuse panel somehow to disconnect screws underneath?
JA: Have you checked the manual yet? Most vehicles have two fuse panels.
Customer: Yes. It's all over the Internet that there is some sort of fuse panel removal required to change this fuse since it's bolted down from underneath
JA: What is the model/year of your Toyota?
Customer: 2011 toyota rav4
JA: Are you fixing your RAV4 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Trying to change a fuse
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

Hello. Welcome to Just Answer. Please allow me to assist you. The fuse panel must be unbolted form the vehicle to access the clasps that hold the top part of the fuse panel to the bottom part of the fuse panel. Disconnect the battery cables before you unbolt the fuse panel. Then unbolt the fuse panel. Looking at the panel you will see that there is a top and a bottom half. Once the panel is disconnected, the clasps that holds the top to the bottom need to be defeated to allow the bottom to detach form the top. Once the bottom is lowered, you can access the small bolts that holds the 120 amp fuse to the fuse panel buss bar. This cannot be done by having the panel bolted to the vehicle, it Must be released by removing the mounting bolts.
