Customer Question

It won't pass the NOX portion of emissions test in Colorado.
JA: What year is your Colorado?
Customer: 1999 Toyota Corolla
JA: Are you fixing your Corolla yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have replaced the catalytic converter yesterday, I had the fuel injection system cleaned yesterday. I had spark plugs and spark plug wire replaced and tune up done today. The emissions station told me today after I went for a follow-up test that I should drive about 100 miles of highway driving to burn what is left in my engine.
JA: Has the vehicle turned into a gas hog? And how does it start -- same as usual?
Customer: No, the exhaust does not throw out black smoke, the car starts without a problem, but I do have to add about a 1.5 quarts of oil every other week. I normally drive 50-60 miles a day.
JA: What is the make/model of your car?
Customer: 1999 Toyota Corolla Ve
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No
