History. Car was left with lights on, Headlights. 3 days

Customer Question

History. Car was left with lights on
JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: Headlights. 3 days later, car stopped on highway. towed back to house. Disconnected battery for diagnoses. found all coil and pickup with continuity but slightly out of spec. Reconnected battery and alarm sounds but cannot cancel the alarm or turn the car over.
JA: What is the make/model/year of your car?
Customer: 1994 Celica 2.2 litre Gts
JA: Are you fixing your Celica yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes, trying to fix myself. As above. Have checked resistance of coil and pickup and both have continuity but slightly out of spec.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I think you have all the information.

Hello. Welcoem to Just Answer. Please allow me ot assist you. Is this car equipped withj the factory /Toyota alarm system or aftermarket system? Thanks

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I don't know. I can find nothing under the hood. How can I tell?

Let's try the factory disarm method. If you have the factory system, this should cause the alarm to shut off:

1) Connect battery (if disconnected)

2) Get in car

3) Insert key into ignition lock

4 Cycle the key as follows:

Turn the key to ON (when the instrument cluster warning lights illuminate)

turn the key to OFF (causing the lights on the cluster to go out)

Repeat the ON-OFF sequence FIVE TIMES

Then try to start it.

If the car starts, the alarm is factory and is now disabled.

If not, you do not have the factory system.
