The throttle body is the part taking place of a carburetor on the intake and has a large hose going to it from the air filter box. Have you checked for vacuum leaks yet?. You can try to clean the throttle body first before you replace it.. HAVE YOU GOT A VACUUM GAUGE? GREAT TOOL TO CHECK FOR VACUUM LEAKS TELLS YOU THE VACUUM THE ENGINE CREATES AT IDLE SHOULD BE ABOUT 19 T0 20 INCHES OF VACUUM. IF YOU NEED ADVICE ON CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY LET ME KNOW

Hello, I would highly recommend checking the engine compression on each cylinder, sounds like you may have a ring problem which can burning oil and also cause excessive fuel consumption, check the compression before replacing anything, the engine may just be worn out and not worth putting any money into.H
