Customer Question

I have a 2003 Toyota RAV4. It idles fine. It runs fine above 2500 rpm. It runs fine when accelerating quickly. However, when running at normal driving speeds, it misfires fairly often. Some days it does it a lot, other days very little. Engine light light has not been on at all until a couple days ago. Carried it to auto parts store for diagnosis. Said cylinder 2 was misfiring, and random misfiring multiple. I changed the coil on 2, and it did not help.

Hello, my name is***** am a master auto tech. Glad to help you with this.

Check the spark plugs. Could also be an injector problem. You can swap coils, injectors and spark plugs. If the misfire follows to that cylinder that you switched you can find the problem. You need to swap these parts one at a time.

Last would be a compression and leak down test.
