Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If the engine died while driving and now it appears you have an immobilizer issue then I'd first suspect the engine controller is not awake, either due to an internal failure or a loss of power or ground. An immobilizer issue itself can't cause the engine to die while driving.

What are you seeing that leads to you believe the key isn't being validated?
