Most commonly, the AC being inoperative can be traced to the following items:

Faulty MG CL relay (in the fuse panel under the hood) (Remove and replace)

too low refrigerant charge (test pressure, add if too low)

too high refrigerant charge (test pressure, drain if too high)

Compressor RPM sensor failed (but this would make the AC light blink)
