Hello. Welcome to Just Answer. Please allow me to assist you. This issue is indicative af a faulty alternator. I would recommend you take the vehicle to a shop where they can test the alternator, on the vehicle. The output voltage should be 14.4 volts DC and a minimum of 50 amps with all of the electrical accessories on (headlights/heater/rear defroster/radio, etc). If either of the above specifications are below the values given, replace the alternator.

This doesn't help me at all.

If the alternator is not outputting the proper voltage, the brake light comes on. When this happens the battery drains.
