Customer Question

My car begin bucking at 70 mph with the cruise on. Then I took the cruise off and it stopped bucking. Then it started bucking at 60 miles an hour. Then it bucked all the way to a complete stop. I just replaced the timing belt one month ago. I am afraid to try to start it because if the timing belt broke again, I might bend the valves and rods. I have a 1998 Toyota Camry four-cylinder.

Hello, thanks for posting

This is a non interference engine so even if the belt broke the valves can't make contact with the pistons.

Is the check engine light staying on while the engine is running, does it flash?

does the engine start and idle?
