Thank you for allowing me to help you with this concern today and am sorry to hear that this is happening. This is a concern we see often on these older Tundra's and Sequoia vehicles (they are built on the same platform).

Will you be performing the repair yourself and have you done some steering column repairs like this in the past?

I see. The problem is the stalk that has to overdrive button on the end. It is located on the right hand side of the steering column just past the steering wheel. There is a wire that runs from the button on the end and into the column cover that gets chaffed from rubbing on the column. This is what needs to be replaced. Here is a pic of what it looks like....

It will take a repair shop about 1 hour to replace.
