I recently bought a 2012 RAV4 and it only had a valet key.

I recently bought a 2012 RAV4 and it only had a valet key. I bought a remote key from the dealer and programmed it myself. The new key will lock and unlock fine, but won't start the car. The security light doesn't go off when the key in in the ignition. The valet key is fine.

Hi I. Kevin there are two parts to key programming first is the easy part that's syncing the fob to lock and unlock car the second is the start permission that can only be do by plugging car in and programming key you will need to take both keys to the dealer for this to be done
