Toyota Solara: My key would not turn in the ignition. Figuring

Customer Question

My key would not turn in the ignition. Figuring it was a bad ignition switch, my uncle replaced the whole steering column. The original black key came with it but now the security system won't allow the car to start. Is there a way to deactivate the immobilizer? It's a 99 Solara SLE (I think).

Do you have the red flashing security light when the key is in the ignition? Do you have the VIN available?
