Hi and thank you for allowing me to help you with this concern today and am sorry to hear that this is happening. Can you tell me a little more about this vibration and when it happens? Does it do it while idling at a stop light?

Oh ok, I saw that you had stated that just after I sent the reply, sorry. :) Any warning lights on? I ask because this sounds just like a transmission torque converter shudder that is happening.

Last questions(I hope) How many miles are on this 2004 Highlander? And this just started recently?
Expert:  Genchi Genbutsu replied 2 years ago.
Also, let me check on any Toyota Tech Service bulletins we may have about this concern....
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
125,000 yes
Expert:  Genchi Genbutsu replied 2 years ago.
Ok, I didn't see any TSB's that related to this concern so it is not a 'known' issue that has any updated parts issued.
Expert:  Genchi Genbutsu replied 2 years ago.
When was the last time the transmission was serviced or had the fluid replaced/flushed?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Has not been done at all
Expert:  Genchi Genbutsu replied 2 years ago.
I see. That is where we should start then(with having the transmission serviced) Do you have a Toyota Dealer near you or an Independent Repair shop you trust nearby?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes thanks for the information !
Expert:  Genchi Genbutsu replied 2 years ago.
Good, I would recommend that you at least take a test drive with the Master Technician that will be working on your Highlander and that way he/she can feel and see what the vehicle is doing. Then have the transmission service (flushed) to get all that old fluid and debris out of it. This should fix or at least prolong the life of it. Does this make sense?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes
