Thank you for choosing JustAnswer and allowing me to help you resolve your Toyota questions! Has the check engine light been on? Are you certain it is the transmission shifting or slipping or is it a performance issue in the engine causing the bucking?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

the check engine light is not on

The most common issue with bucking and hesitation is due to a bad ignition coil. They are notorious to fail especially after they get hot. Click this link and look at the picture and compare it to the coil on your car. If it is cracked or the side is discolored it needs replace. The distributer has to come out to remove the coil and use only a Toyota coil. The capacitor down in the distributer should be replaced also. The dealer sells them for about $10
